Seek First

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:33

What does it mean to “seek first”? It all goes back to where our treasure is. If we truly find our treasure in the Lord, it changes our whole perspective on everything. This comes in the middle of Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount. The beatitudes describe a person that hungers and thirsts after righteousness, and Jesus lays out the standards for keeping God’s law, an obedience that permeates the heart. Jesus challenges our motivations in serving others and the intent driving our worship. When our treasure is in the wrong place, we spend our days striving for more, bringing constant worry and fear. When our treasure is in the Lord, we are satisfied in Him.

Studio Update:

The little critters continue, and I’m so excited to share snippets of these projects I’m working on! Look for more chipmunks, squirrels, birds, and other woodland creatures to join the crew as I continue to work on them.

Sourdough “Baguettes”

  • 300g water
  • 1/4c – 1/2c sourdough starter
  • 120g spelt flour
  • 380g bread flour
  • Salt (to taste)

In a large glass bowl, whisk together the water and starter. Add flour and stir to combine (it will essentially be kneading to get the last bit of flour in). Cover with a damp towel and let rise overnight.

In the morning, divide the dough into two sections and shape into logs. I usually put mine in a couche lined with a well-floured tea towel to support the dough as it rises.

Let rise in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours (I find that the dough comes out of the couche better cold). Turn out bread onto baking pan, slash as desired, and bake in a preheated 450°F oven for 15-20 minutes.

That’s all for today. Thanks for stopping by!
